Emory, Va.-- For the second straight season, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball team reached the 20-win mark as the Bears defeated the Wasps 68-63 on Saturday afternoon in their first ever trip to Emory, Va. Mikeba Jones kept her hot streak going as Jones had a huge double-double with 21 points and twelve rebounds. Jones has averaged 17.5 points and has scored in double digits in every game this calendar month.

STATS AND INFO:
- This was the Bears first trip to Emory & Henry as the first two meetings were played in Hickory.
- Emily Harman started her 100th career game today.
- LR won their 20th game for the second straight season.
- Bears remain in second place in the SAC, one game behind Catawba
- Bears are tied for first in the Southeast Region with the 20 wins.
FIRST HALF:
- The Wasps scored the first five points of the game which was the margin they were up after the first ten minutes.
- A Jalen Gathers layup give the Bears their first lead at 29-28 with 3:52 left in the first half.
- However the lead was short lived as the Wasps scored eight of the last ten points in the half to take a 36-31 lead in the break.
- Bears shot 31% from the floor in the first quarter while the Wasps shot 56% best while both teams shot north of 40% in the second quarter.
SECOND HALF:
- Back to Back three-pointers by the Wasps Gracyn Hall gave Emory & Henry their biggest lead of the game at 42-33 with 7:59 left.
- Jones then went a 7-0 run of get the Bears with two at 42-40.
- Down three in the final 90 seconds of the third quarter, Blaikley Crooks scored four straight points and Emily Harman hit a jumper to give the Bears their biggest lead of the day and a three point lead heading into the final frame.
- Megan Landsiedel then hit back to back three pointers to open the 4th quarter as the Bears opened a six point lead.
- Hall got the Wasps within one with 2:27 left to play but the Wasps missed their next three shots and the Bears went 6-6 from the line in the final minute to hold on for the 68-63 win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Crooks had 15 points and six rebounds while Harman had 14 points and five rebounds.
- LR shot 23-25 from the foul line while Emory & Henry went 4-7.
- Jones went 6-7 from the line while Crooks went 7-8.
- Harman added four steals as the Bears forced the Wasps in 21 turnovers.
UP NEXT: LR will have their home finale on Wednesday when rival Wingate comes into town. Tip-off is scheduled for 5:30 PM.
