Women's Lacrosse Falls in Overtime to Lincoln Memorial

Hickory, N.C.--  For the third straight time between these programs, the Bears and Railsplitters went into overtime and for the third straight time Lincoln Memorial came away with the way as the visitors came back from a three-goal halftime deficit to defeat the Bears 10-9. Anneleise Meyer had three goals including the goal to tie it up late in the 4th quarter while Kirra Olson and Jolan Morey each added two goals.

STATS OF THE GAME
  • LR jumped out with the first two goals of the game before the Railsplitters scored three in a row but Meyer's second goal of the quarter tied it at three apiece. Which is where we finished the first period. 
  • Bears opened their biggest lead since the first game of the season as the Bears scored four straight goals to open the second period including two man-up goals from Olson. LMU got a goal right before half as LR took a 7-4 lead into the break. 
  • Bears got the first goal of the second half but LMU held the Bears off the scoreboard and then scored four straight goals to tie it at eight heading into the final period. 
  • 4th quarter was all defense as each team only scored once as Meyer's goal with 5:33 left tied it up.
  • However just 67 seconds into the overtime, LMU got the game winner as the Bears losing streak hit seven in a row. 
  • Sally Friesen made eight saves in goal for the Bears. 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • LMU's only two wins in Hickory have come in overtime including the 2022 SAC Quarterfinals game. 
  • That game was a triple overtime contest that the Railsplitters won. 
  • That game is still the longest game in Bears history. 
  • Chloe Christensen had five draw controls and two caused turnovers. 
  • Makenna Filley had three ground balls and three caused turnovers for LR. 
NEXT UP: Emory & Henry will head to Hickory for a 4:00 PM game on Wednesday.
