WINGATE, N.C. -- The No. 2 Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Lacrosse Team captured a road win over No. 6 Wingate on Saturday night. The Bears used a 5-0 run in the second quarter to take an 8-2 lead and never looked back. The win gives the Bears the inside track at the number two seed and a bye in the quarterfinals of the SAC Tournament next month.

STATS OF THE GAME
- The teams traded goals to start the game with each squad's first tally coming just 38 seconds apart. Zack Salo and Robert Walker went back-to-back for LR to make it 3-1.
- Willie Grieco's goal with 5:36 left in the first quarter made it 3-2 and neither team could find the back of the net the rest of the quarter.
- LR surged ahead with a 5-0 run in the second quarter. Colten McCracken got the run started and Jarrett Huff scored a man up goal. 42 seconds later Kyle Hatcher scored and Hatcher would net his second goal just 1:05 later. The run culminated in a score from Will Canata to make it 8-2.
- Wingate would cut it to 10-7 with 8:59 to play but Huff's second man up goal with 6:18 left in the game made it 11-7. Evan Voss iced it by completing his hat trick to make it 12-7.
- LR held a 51-30 edge in shots and 27-21 advantage in shots on goal.
- The game was won at the faceoff X as Matthew Mancini won 19-of-23 and scooped up 12 ground balls. He added an assist.
- Voss finished with three goals and two assists and Hatcher and Huff each had two goals and one helper.
- Rob Pensabene made 14 saves in the win to improve to 7-1 in net this season.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE
- LR has won two straight games at Wingate and held the Bulldogs to just 12 goals in the two games at Irwin Belk Stadium.
- LR owns the all-time series 11-7 and are 6-3 on the road against Wingate.
- The loss gives Wingate three overall as they battle to make the NCAA Tournament.
- This is the fourth win over a top 10 team for Lenoir-Rhyne this season.
