HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Tennis Team took advantage of the quick turnaround to bounce back with a 6-1 home victory over Edinboro.Â
The Bears had a perfect run for doubles as LR won all three lines. In No. 1 and No. 2 doubles, the respective teams won each match by a 6-1 result. Â
For the No. 3 doubles match, the duo of Dawson Clifford and Alexa Allison squeezed past Edinboro's Marina Zottele and Maria Salmao in a 7-5 victory.Â
In the five singles matches the Bears won, they did it in straight set fashion. Runa Muderrisoglu started off the chain of success with a 6-0, 6-3 victory at No. 1 singles.Â
After her competitive doubles match, Allison had a more comfortable ride in singles with a 6-2, 6-1 win at No. 5 singles.Â
Despite dropping the No. 3 singles match, LR turned the match back around in its favor with a No. 2 singles victory by Alicia Wahlberg. The senior posted a perfect line, a 6-0, 6-0 result, to give the Bears the crucial fourth win of the match.Â
LR did not slow down as it closed out the match with two victories at the No. 4 and the No. 6 singles line. Nellie Wahlberg, who played at the No. 4 spot, cemented a 6-2, 6-1 result while Jessica Fuchs, who played at the No. 6 spot, dialed up an identical scoreline of 6-2, 6-1.Â
UP NEXT: The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Tennis Team will return to conference play for its SAC home opener against the Limestone Saints. The match is scheduled to take place on Wednesday, March 13 at 2:30 p.m. from the YMCA of Catawba Valley in Hickory, N.C.Â
