Match Recap: Men's Tennis |

No. 34 Men’s Tennis Defeated by No. 16 Wingate

WINGATE, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team dropped its second-straight match with a 7-0 defeat to the Wingate Bulldogs.

At the beginning of the match, all three doubles matches ended with the identical 6-1 outcome, as the Bulldogs controlled all the lines to earn the 1-0 lead.

As the match transitioned into singles, the Bulldogs did not skip a beat as they won all six matches, with five of them coming in straight-set fashion.

The one line the Bears forced a third set came at the No. 5 spot. Raphael Champaud, the sophomore from Chandolas, France, dropped his opening set in a 7-5 result, but he turned it around with a 6-2 result in the second set. For the final set, Champaud went the distance with Wingate's Edis Nokic, but the Bulldog prevailed, 7-4, in the decisive tiebreaker.

UP NEXT: The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Tennis Team will conclude its season with a home contest against Lincoln Memorial. The regular season finale is slated for Saturday, April 13 at 1 p.m. from the YMCA of Catawba Valley.
