Mardigian Homers Three Times in Sweep of Emory & Henry

Emory, Va.--Julia Mardigian went 2-3 with two homers and 4 RBIs in the Bears 10-1 win in game one then Mardigian went 5-5 with a homerun and 3 RBIs in the night cap as LR completed the sweep with a 13-3 win in game two. Mardigian finished the day with seven hits, three homeruns and seven RBIs.

  • This was the first trip to Emory & Henry for the Bears.
  • This is the second stop in a three game road trip in six days for the Bears.
  • LR will travel 840 miles this week to close the regular season.
  • This was a rain makeup from April 8th. 
GAME ONE INFO:
  • Bears scored five unearned runs in the second inning highlighted by Mardigian's first homerun a three-run shot with two outs in the second.
  • Mardigian then hit her second homerun in her next at bat in the 4th.
  • After the Wasps got on the board, LR responded with a four spot in the 6th including RBIs from Lani Warren, Madison Primm and Lora Beth Wood
  • Mardigian, Warren and Katelyn Rackard each had two hits as the top three in the order went 6-11.
  • Lauren Rakes picked up win number 15 in the cirlce as Rakes went the distance allowing one run and striking out seven. 
GAME TWO INFO:
  • Mardigian had the Bears first five hit game of the season including a RBI single in the second inning, a solo homerun the 5th and RBI single an inning later. 
  • Warren and Lora Beth Wood each had three hits as LR pounded out 20 hits. 20 hits is a season-high as six Bears had multi-hit games. 
  • Wood and Rakes added two RBis as LR only had seven RBIs out of the 13 runs scored.
  • As the Wasps made six errors in the game while the Bears made a season-high four errors themselves. 
  • Madison Wilson picked up her 13th win as Wilson threw a compelte game allowing three runs (1 earned). 
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
  • Savannah Moorefield was the last Bear to have five hits. Moorefield went 5-5 against Columbus State on February 1, 2020.
  • Bears have 48 hits in their last three games this week.
  • Mardigian is up to .455 on the season with 11 homeruns and 54 RBIs.
  • LR has a team is up to .338 team average. Which is would be third best in a single season.
