Ewald Finishes Second in 10K at Lee Last Chance Meet

CLEVELAND, Tenn. - In the final weekend of competition before the NCAA Outdoor Championships, the distance runners represented the Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams at the Lee Last Chance Meet.

Paige Ewald, the junior from Woodstock, Ga., had the best finish of the weekend for the Bears with her second-place time of 36:59.37 in the women's 10000-meter race. Not only was the performance a new personal best, but Ewald also dropped her time by nearly a full minute from the Southside Power and Fitness Invitational back in April. During the outdoor season, Ewald has set three personal-best times.

Lewis Budgen, the junior from Lincoln, England, earned a 12th-place finish in the men's 3000-meter steeplechase with a time of 9:29.07. Out of his three performances in the event during the outdoor season, it is the second-fastest time that he has recorded. He set a personal-best time of 9:25.90 at the 2024 SAC Outdoor Championships.

Olivia Overholt, the sophomore from Tryon, N.C., also got a 12th-place result at the event, recording a time of 2:15.66 in the women's 800-meter race. Overholt was coming off a personal-best performance in the 2024 SAC Outdoor Championships, which earned a fourth-place finish in the event.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field Teams will now await to see which individuals will qualify for the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships. The three-day event will begin on Thursday, May 23, in Emporia, Kan.
