Women's Track and Field

Brown, Women's 4x100 Team Achieve National Championships

EMPORIA, Kan. - As the 2024 NCAA Outdoor Championships have come to a close, Alexis Brown captured two more national championships with performances in the women's 100-meter dash and 4x100-meter relay.

For the 100-meter dash, the sophomore from Mableton, Ga., produced a first-place time of 10.96, beating out the competition by 18 hundredths of a second. In her freshman season, Brown captured a second-place finish in the same event at the 2023 NCAA Outdoor Championships.

In the 4x100-meter relay, Brown was joined alongside Melody Jones, Victoria Aransiola and Holly Kone to complete a first-place time of 11.21. The combined group edged out second-place Pittsburg State by six hundredths of a second.

While Brown was able to take a couple of first place finishes on the final day of competition, she also participated in the women's 200-meter dash. The sophomore recorded a personal-best time of 22.98, which was good enough for a third-place finish in the event. The 200-meter dash was the same event that Brown won in the 2024 NCAA Indoor Championships.

Another LR athlete that was able to complete a personal-best performance on Saturday was Clarence McGill, who had a seventh-place time of 51.16 in the men's 400-meter hurdles.

The sophomore from Corpus Christi, Texas, also served as the third leg of the men's 4x400-meter relay. The combined group of McGill, Marcus Crumpler, Jacob Wadsworth, and Bamidele Ajayi finished eighth in the event with a time of 3:11.32.

Lastly, in the men's triple jump event, Nick Henriques posted a 17th-place finish of 14.43 meters. This marked the first time that the Acworth, Ga., native has competed in the NCAA Championships in his LR career.

With the three-day event in the books, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Track and Field finished ninth in the competition with 26 points. The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Track and Field Team finished 46th in the competition with three points.
