SALEM, VA / CHAPEL HILL, NC - The Bears opened up the 2025 calendar year on a high note, as both Alexis Brown and Sharonda Priester found themselves on top of the podium.

Brown picked up right where she left off last season, as she took home first place honors in the 60m dash with a time of 7.42, which ranks seventh in DII this year. Just behind her was Molly McGrath, who set a new PR with a time of 7.78. Also taking top honors in her event was Sharonda Priester, who's time of 8.94 in the 60m hurdles set a new personal best. 

Sophomore Caitlyn Christie and senior Elizabeth Kessler each competed in the mile at the Dick Taylor Carolina Challenge, hosted by the University of North Carolina. In a field made up of mostly DI runners, Christie finished 21st with a time of 5:20.00, and Kessler was just behind her in 23rd with a 5:21.10.
