HICKORY, N.C. -- A balanced attack powered the Bears in their sweep of Newberry on Saturday afternoon inside the Shu.
Emmie Modlin led the Bears with eight kills while
Emmaleigh Allen,
Kayli Cleaver and
Brooke Aeschliman each added seven.
LR did also set a season-high with 13 blocks, led by eight from
Averie Dale.

STORY OF THE MATCH:.
- With the score 9-9 early on, Hadley Prince had back-to-back aces to give the Bears the lead, which they held the rest of the set to take an 1-0 lead.
- LR came out of the gates hitting .481 in the opening set.
- Newberry led 22-21 late in the second set, but the Bears scored the last four points to steal the set. Averie Dale had back-to-back kills during the last run.
- The second set had eight ties and six lead changes.
- Bears controlled the third set em-route to the sweep, including late kills from Adair Rodemaker and Rachael Chambers to seal the victory.
- Coming off her first triple double on Tuesday, Modlin flirted with another one, finishing with eight kills, seven digs and 17 assists.
- Emmaleigh Allen had 12 digs while Hadley Prince added 11.
- As usual, Averie Dale stuffed the stat sheet, finishing with eight blocks, five kills, two digs, two aces and an assist.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- Bears have now won nine in a row against the Wolves.
- After playing Wingate and Newberry this week, the Bears will face off against both teams again this week, just swapping venues.
- Rachael Chambers, a freshman from Morehead City, N.C., got her first collegiate kill today.
- Emmaleigh Allen notched her 700th career kill today.
- This was the second game this season with at least 10 blocks for the Bears.
UP NEXT: The Bears will get their rematch with Wingate on Tuesday night. Wingate defeated the Bears 3-1 this past Tuesday on their home court. Wingate defeated Lincoln Memorial 3-1 on Friday night to move to 13-1 on the season. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. from Shuford.
