FORDE, NORWAY - Lenoir-Rhyne club weightlifter Ryan Grimsland came through when it mattered most, setting a new personal best to take eighth at the World Weightlifting Championships.
Grimsland, who competes in the extremely competitive 79kg division, used a snatch of 152kg and clean & jerk of 190kg to finish with a total of 342kg, a new competition personal best. He was second amongst the Americans, with Taiyo Caden Cahoy taking fifth.Â
27 individuals registered a total with eight more failing to notch an official lift. Grimsland's total would have placed him ninth in the 88kg division and 14th at 94kg.Â
