GREENWOOD, S.C. - For the fourth time in program history and the third time in five years, the Lenoir-Rhyne women's soccer team can call themselves Southeast Regional Champions. The Bears went into Greenwood, South Carolina, on a wet and cold Sunday and defeated No. 5 seed Lander 1-0 to book their ticket to the quarterfinals.
Lucia Hidalgo was the hero yet again, scoring a late first half goal off a perfect cross from
Rosa Gonzalez, mirroring the way the Bears won against North Georgia last week. Not to be outdone was
Riley Miller, who becomes the first goalie in program history to post three shutouts in a single NCAA tournament.
The Bears will take on Florida Tech in Saturday's national quarterfinal, who defeated Nova Southeastern 1-0 earlier today. Lenoir-Rhyne will now have played Florida Tech in all four their national quarterfinal appearances.

STORY OF THE GAME:
- The game was played in the midfield early on, as there were just three combined shots in the first 35 minutes of play.
- In the 42nd minute Rosa Gonzalez drove down the right side and put in a perfect cross to Lucia Hidalgo, who chested it in for what would be the game winning goal.
- Brady Livingston kept up the pressure with a shot just before the half.
- Lander pressed forward and put up four shots in the final 20 minutes of the game.
- Riley Miller was up to the task, saving three of the shots.

- Lander out shot the Bears 10-8 and held a 7-3 edge in shots on goal.
- Ava Hartman and Lucia Hidalgo led the Bears with three shots each.

UP NEXT: The Bears will travel to Melbourne, Florida, on Saturday to face off against Florida Tech in the national quarterfinals. The Panthers are 14-3-6 and were the No. 4 seed in their region. They advanced to his round thanks to wins over Embry Ridle, West Florida, and Nova Southeastern. More information on Saturday's game will be released later this week.
