Volleyball set to take on Lander in NCAA Opening Round

WINGATE, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball team is set to square off against Lander in the NCAA Tournament opening round. This weekend's first, second, and third round games will all be hosted by Wingate University.

The Bears, who enter at the No. 2 seed in the Southeast Region, currently sport a 22-7 (14-4 SAC) record and set a new program high with 13 wins at home this season. This year marks the eighth NCAA Tournament appearance for the program and the first time they have ever qualified for the postseason three years in a row. Five individuals were named to the All-SAC team while Averie Dale, Kayli Cleaver, and Hadley Prince were All-Region performers.

Lander sits at a 20-10 (10-5 PBC) record and fell 3-2 to Flagler in the Peach Belt Championship game. The Bearcats hold a 10-8 lead in the all-time series, winning five of the previous six matchups. Lenoir-Rhyne is 1-0 in the NCAA Tournament vs. Lander, taking them down 3-1 during their run to the southeast region championship game in 2015. Outside hitter Katie Miller is one to watch, as she is one of the top hitters in the country with 512 kills on a .223 hitting percentage.

The live streams for all NCAA tournament games are free and can be found at ncaa.com. Tickets are $15 for adults, $10 for military/senior citizens, and $5 for students with a school ID and children ages 2-12. All information on this weekend's tournament can be found HERE.
