Hickory, N.C.-- The Lenoir-Rhyne Baseball team opened the Adam Skonieczki era with a pair of wins over Trevecca Nazarene to open the 2025 season. Sal Carricato had a two-run homerun and four RBI's in the first game as LR scored 18 runs in a four-inning span to win the opener 18-3. The Bears followed that up by scoring six times in the bottom of the 6th to erase the Trojans lead and win game two 6-1.
Hogan Stallings had a pitch hit grand slam in the first game while Eli Willen and Alex Khan each had big two-out two-run hits in the bottom of the sixth in the night cap.

GAME ONE INFO:
- Sal Carricato got the Bears on the board with a two-run shot in the fourth inning after Cole Laskowski led off the inning with a double.
- Lenoir-Rhyne blew the game open in the sixth, scoring 16 more runs in the next three innings to get their first win of 2025.
- Carricato, Michael Logan and Owen Blackledge each had two-out, two-run singles in the 5th inning to extended the lead to 8-1.
- Hogan Stallings capped off the scoring with a pitch-hit grandslam in the 7th.
- Mackenzie Wainwright was a homerun away from the cycle as he went 3-for-3 with a walk.
- Andrew Harlow got the win in his first career start for the Bears. Harlow was brilliant, allowing just four hits and one run while striking out eight.
- Peyton Schofield and Randan Rigdan throw up zeros out of the pen.
GAME TWO INFO:.
- The Trojans got on the board first with a two-out single in the 5th inning to take a 1-0 lead.
- Wainwright singled to lead off the bottom of the 6th then stole second and scored on Tyler Bradley single.
- Bradley then scored on an infield single by Carricato.
- Willen extended the lead to 4-1 with a two-out single before Khan continued tormenting the TNU pitchers with a two-run double two hitters later to give the game it's final 6-1 score.
- Will Girardi had a quality start, allowing just the one run in five innings giving up just three hits while striking out eight.
- Gavin Marley (1-0) and Nathen Morris looked great out of the bullpen has the duo struck out five of six hitters faced as Marley picked up the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This is the first ever meeting between programs.
- This opened up the 98th year of baseball at LR.
- This was the first two of 31 home games this season at Durham Field.
- Laskowski is now just 14 hits away from 200.
- Carricato's homerun was his 29th career homerun as a Bear.
