HICKORY, NC - Facing a tough Anderson squad in their SAC season opener, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Tennis team won 4-2 to get off to a strong start in conference play.
Lenoir-Rhyne opened up the day by winning the doubles point. The #1 pairing of
Claudia Orsini and
Runa Muderrisoglu continues to dominate, winning 6-2. The point was secured thanks to a 6-3 win at #2 doubles from
Esther Magnusson and
Nellie Wahlberg.
The Bears got their four points thanks to wins at #1, #2, and #3 singles.
Runa Muderrisoglu won 6-0, 7-6 at #1 singles, and
Nellie Wahlberg was victorious 6-0, 3-6, 6-1 at the #2 slot.
Esther Magnusson clinched the victory with an 0-6, 6-3, 6-2 win at the #3 spot.Â
The Bears will be back in action on Monday when they play host to Mount Olive at the Hickory YMCA Courts. This match was rescheduled from earlier this week due to snow. First serve is scheduled for 1 p.m.
