HICKORY, NC - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse team got their first win of the season in style, taking down Barton 14-9 in Hickory.

STATS OF THE GAME
- Helped in part by two goals from Cassell Richardson, the Bears led 4-1 after the first quarter.
- With Lenoir-Rhyne leading 5-4, Chloe Christensen scored back-to-back goals to spark a 5-0 LR run that trickled into the third quarter.
- The Bears led 9-4 at the half thanks to a near last-second goal from Kirra Olson off the assist from Abbey Walker.
- Barton cut slightly into the lead in the third, outscoring the Bears 2-1.
- Holding on to an 11-8 lead in the fourth, the Bears scored three of the final four goals to nab their first win of the year.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Lenoir-Rhyne out-shot Barton 31-25 and was 18-24 on clears.
- Draw controls won the Bears this game, as they led 16-9 in that category.
- Chloe Christensen and Anneleise Meyer each had five draw controls.
- Marissa Evans was all over the field, scoring one goal and notching five assists.
- Sally Friesen made 13 saves in the win.
- This was the first ever meeting between these two teams.
NEXT UP: Lenoir-Rhyne will be back between the bricks this Saturday when they play host to #19 Wingate. The Bulldogs are 3-1 and are coming off a 12-9 loss at #23 Seton Hill on Sunday. This contest is scheduled to start at 12 p.m.
