Vaughan, Lewis, and Brown take home USTFCCCA Regional Awards

HICKORY, NC - Following an outstanding winter campaign, the Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Track & Field team has racked up a few big USATFCCCA Southeast Regional Awards. Alexis Brown took home her third consecutive Southeast Regional Track Athlete of the Year honor, Paris Vaughan was named Southeast Region Women's Coach of the Year, and Kayonna Lewis was the Southeast Region Women's Assistant Coach of the Year.

Alexis Brown was firing on all cylinders at the NCAA DII Indoor Championships, setting a new DII record in the 200m dash with a time of 22.88. She is the first and only DII sprinter to ever go under 23 seconds in an indoor 200 meter. She also took second in the 60m dash with a time of 7.28 seconds. Brown also took home SAC Track Athlete of the Meet this year and is the reigning USTFCCCA Indoor Scholar Athlete of the Year.

Paris Vaughan, who has stepped up this year as the Interim Head Coach for both Track & Field programs, earns this honor after earning the SAC Indoor Women's Track & Field Coach of the Year award. He coached the Bears to a second-place finish at the SAC Championships and both Brown and Melody Jones were named First-Team All-Americans at the NCAA DII Indoor Track & Field Championships.

Kayonna Lewis takes home the Southeast Region Assistant Coach of the Year award for the second consecutive season. Lewis, who is in her fourth year as assistant coach at Lenoir-Rhyne, coached two First-Team All-Americans in sprinters Alexis Brown and Melody Jones.
