RALEIGH, NC - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Track and Field teams competed at the prestigious Raleigh Relays this weekend, setting multiple records in the process.
Highlighting the weekend was
Alexis Brown, who won both the 100 and 200 meter events in impressive fashion. She won the 100 meter dash with a time of 11.13 seconds, which is the fastest wind-legal time across all NCAA divisions. She followed that up with a 22.67 in the 200m, a new personal best, the fastest time across all divisions, and the third fastest DII time in history.Â
Setting a new school record in the 4x400m was the team of
Sharonda Priester,
Jani Day,
Mathilde Etienne, and
Damyja Ortiz. They ran a time of 3:43.37, good enough for the fastest DII time at the meet and the eighth fastest time in DII this year. Setting a new school record in the 400m hurdles was
Sharonda Priester, who finished in 1:00.57. That time was 12th in the meet and ranks fifth in DII. Also hitting the DII provo mark was
Damyja Ortiz, who ran a time of 55.62 in the 400 meters. Also hitting an NCAA provo mark was the 4x100 team of Priester, Ortiz,
Molly McGrath, and
Zanetta Udo-Obong, who's time of 46.23 ranked 9th at the meet and 24th in DII.
Hitting an NCAA provo mark on the men's side was
Marcus Crumpler in the 400 meters. He set a new personal best with a time of 47.46, taking 12th in the meet and ranking 20th in DII. Freshman
Havyn Spain impressed in the 200m dash, running a new personal best time of 21.43 seconds.
Harrison Hickman also set a personal best in the 800m, coming through in a time of 1:54.12. Placing in the top-ten of his event was
Mike Karicher, who took eighth in the pole vault with a mark of 4.45m (14-7.25).Â
The Bears will be back in action this weekend when they take part in the VertKlasse Meeting at High Point.
