HICKORY, NC - In a top-25 battle, the #16 ranked Lenoir-Rhyne Bears defeated the #23 ranked Catawba Indians 7-4 in a non-conference tilt at Durham Field.
Cole Stanford delivered a big two-run double to tie the game in the 5th inning before
Michael Logan and
Eli Willen extended the lead with RBI's as LR quickly erased a 3-0 deficit.
Gavin Marley came out of the pen to throw 2 2/3 scoreless innings to pick up his fifth save of the season.
Mackenzie Wainwright hit his SAC leading 17th home run as had his fifth straight multi-hit game. The Bears will now prepare for their huge weekend SAC series at #7 Carson-Newman, which will start Friday afternoon.

STORY OF THE GAME:
- Catawba scored a single run in each of the first three innings to take a 3-0 lead early.
- Mackenzie Wainwright opened the bottom of the third with a line drive home run to get the Bears on the board.
- The Bears then took the lead with a four-run fifth inning, highlighted by Cole Stanford's two-run double.
- Cole Laskowski and Sal Carricato had RBI's in the sixth inning to take a 7-3 lead.
- Catawba scored once in the 7th before Gavin Marley came in to get the final eight outs for his 5th save of the season.
- Lenoir-Rhyne's bullpen was the story in this one as Cole Bramhall, Randan Rigdon, and Marley threw five innings and allowed just one unearned run while holding the Catawba lineup to just four hits. Bramhall picked up the victory in relief.
STATS OF THE GAME:
- Wainwright went 2-for-3 on the night with two walks and three runs scored.
- Laskowski, Stanford, and Eli Willen joined Wainwright with a pair of hits in this one.
- LR out-hit the Indians 11-10 as LR had nine of their 11 hits after the fourth inning.
- Peyton Schofield got the start and went four innings, striking out six in the no decision.
