Bears complete comeback with extra innings victory to advance to Regional Final

DAHLONEGA, GA - The Bears don't quit. Down to their final out, Lani Warren doubled home Katelyn Rackard to tie North Georgia 3-3 in the seventh inning. Alexandria Gray would send the Bears to tomorrow's region championship game with a game-winning home run in the eighth inning as the Bears completed the late inning comeback, winning 4-3.

Madison Primm had three hits, including a solo home run in the fifth, while also driving in a pair of runs. Katelyn Rackard reached base three times. 

INSIDE THE MATCHUP:

STORY OF GAME:
  • Bears scored before North Georgia recorded an out as Katelyn Rackard was hit by a pitch to lead off the game and Madison Primm drove her home with a double on the next at bat.
  • The Nighthawks scored a single run in the first, third and fourth to take a 3-1 lead.
  • Primm struck again with a solo home run in the 5th inning to cut the lead to 3-2.
  • Down to their final out, Rackard was hit by the pitch again, then Primm singled to right field before Lani Warren doubled home Rackard to tie the game. 
  • Alexandria Gray then give the Bears the lead with her 11th home run of the season in the top of the 8th.
  • The Nighthawks put the tying and winning run on base in the bottom of the 8th but Madison Wilson got the Nighthakws to ground out to send the Bears to the regional final. 

STATS OF GAME::

  • Madison Wilson continues her amazing post season picking up the win in relief. She threw six innings, allowing just one run and striking out six
  • Both teams had ten hits in the game as eight Bears had hits in this one.
  • Madison Primm was the only Bear with more then one hit, finishing 3-for-4 and just a triple away from the cycle.
  • Katelyn Rackard scored a pair of runs and reached base three times. 

BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:

  • The Bears went 4-1 in extra innings games last postseason. 
  • Wilson now had .90 ERA this post season in 31 innings. 
  • She also picked up win number 20 in the circle today. 
  • Primm hit her 19th home run of the season, which is the second most in one single season in program history. 
UP NEXT: The Bears will head to the regional final tomorrow. North Georgia defeated Tusculum later on Friday to get back to face the Bears tomorrow. North Georgia has to beat the Bears twice to advance, while all the Bears have to do is win one game to advance to their second straight Super Regional round. First pitch is scheduled for 12:00 pm.
