HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne volleyball team continued their impressive start to the season on Tuesday, sweeping Catawba 3-0 on the road on Tuesday night.
Kayli Cleaver continues to prove why she is one of the best offensive forces in the SAC, leading the way with 15 kills.

STORY OF THE MATCH:
- The Bears jumped out to a quick 4-0 lead before Catawba came back with three consecutive points of their own.
- Up 14-12, a Kayli Cleaver kill ignited a 5-1 run late in the set.
- The Catawba Indians stormed back, taking a 21-20 lead thanks to a block from Sydney Wattles and Sara Puskas.
- Emmaleigh Allen closed the set out for the Bears with a kill off the assist from Alicia Barbarito.
- With Catawba leading 10-9 in set two, the Bears went on an 8-0 run to break the game open, eventually winning the set 25-16.
- Back-to-back kills from Emmie Modlin and Allen put Lenoir-Rhyne up 10-4 early in the third.
- Averie Dale closed out the sweep with a kill off the set from Sydney Karjala.
STATS OF THE MATCH:
- Kayli Cleaver led the way with 15 kills, followed closely behind by Emmaleigh Allen (11).
- Allen and Sydney Kajala each had four aces, while Emmie Modlin was tops with three blocks.
- Modlin had 19 assists while Hadley Prince tallied 13 digs.
- The Bears hit .347 as a team, their second highest mark of the season.Â
- Averie Dale hit .600 for the second consecutive game.
BEYOND THE BOXSCORE:
- The Bears have now won 15 of their last 16 contests against Catawba, only dropping seven sets during that span.
- Lenoir-Rhyne now has three consecutive 3-0 victories.
- Sydney Karjala picked up her 1500th assist Friday at Carson-Newman and is 10th all-time in Lenoir-Rhyne history in that category.
- Averie Dale (.371) and Kaylie Cleaver (.320) and second and fifth in the SAC for hitting percentage.
Lenoir-Rhyne will be back in Shuford on Friday night when they host Mars Hill for Country Night. First serve is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
