HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne women's soccer team earned the No. 2 seed in this year's South Atlantic Conference Tournament and will host No. 7 seeded Coker on Saturday at 5:00 p.m. All fans are encouraged to wear black to the game.
The Bears are 10-6-1 (7-3 SAC) and are a top-two seed in the conference tournament for the fifth consecutive season. This will also be the ninth consecutive tournament the Bears are hosting an opening round game, with the 2017 tournament being the last one Lenoir-Rhyne hit the road for the opener. A well balanced team, the Bears have had 19 individuals pick up a point this season, led by 10 from
Alexis Cagno,
Katie Durham, and
Mya Rivera. Lenoir-Rhyne closed the season strong, going 5-0-1 over the final six games with four shutouts, all the hands of goalkeeper
Riley Miller. A run in this tournament would earn the Bears the program's sixth conference tournament championship.
Coker is a team on the rise, going 7-6-4 (3-4-3 SAC) on the year and qualifying for their third consecutive South Atlantic Conference Tournament. The Cobras made their first ever SAC Tournament appearance in 2024 and last year advanced to the SAC semi-finals. Isabella Rychel leads the team with 17 points (6g, 5a), while Grace Sykes ranks second in the SAC with nine assists on the season. A well disciplined team, the Cobras have only recorded seven yellow cards on the year, the lowest mark in the conference. Head coach Michael Donald is in his fifth year with the Cobras and holds a 36-31-16 record, posting a program record 10 wins in 2025.
