Spain and Pringle each earn All-American status on final day of NCAA DII Championships

VIRGINIA BEACH, VA - Havyn Spain and Mackenzie Pringle concluded the 2026 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championship with All-American finishes in their respective events.

"I'm really pleased with how well our athletes competed," said Director of Track & Field Bob Braman. "Almost all had lifetime bests and everyone battled fiercely."

Spain went out and ran a time of 20.98 in the first heat of the 200m finals, equaling his personal best time he set at the SAC Championships two weeks ago. This was good enough for third place in the event, making Spain the second highest 200m performer in school history (Dario Matau, 2nd, 2023). Just a sophomore, this is Spain's second National Championships and first time on the podium.

"Havyn was a beast today. Top three in the 200m after never making a national final is huge."

Pringle became the Lenoir-Rhyne triple jumper to place at an Indoor national meet as she broke her own school indoor record with a jump of 12.52 meters on her second attempt. This was good enough for sixth place in the event.

"Mackenzie jumped two lifetime bests and battled to a sixth place finish, joining Havyn by earning a First-Team All-American honor."

As a team the men finished in 18th, their best finish since taking seventh in 2023. Thanks to Pringle the women were tied for 43rd out of 52 scoring teams.

"This is a great starting point for our program. We have outstanding coaches who all view our future as national contenders."

The Bears will open their outdoor season next weekend when they split and head to both the Bob Davidson Team Challenge at High Point and the Lee University Invitational.
