HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne softball team split their series with Mars Hill on Tuesday, falling 5-0 in the opener before rebounding for a 5-3 win in the night cap.
Solo home runs from
Lani Warren and
Ryleigh Pinnix propelled the Bears to victory in game two.
Faith Carrigan continued to shine, picking up her 14th win of the season in the circle.

STORY OF GAME ONE:
- Mars Hill scored all their runs in the third inning.
- An error put the opening batter on and a double steal brought her home.
- Mars Hill used three hit by pitch and four hits to score their five runs.
- Lenoir-Rhyne had bases loaded in the second but failed to plate a run.
- The Bears finished with four hits and six runners left on.
- Madison Wilson (15-4) struck out three in the loss.
STORY OF GAME TWO:
- The Bears scored solo runs in each of the first three innings.
- Lani Warren's third inning home run broke up a 2-2 tie and Ryleigh Pinnix got one of her own to open the fourth.
- Autumn Joyce padded the score with a sac fly in the fourth.
- Mars Hill scored one in the top of the seventh but a ground out to Madison Primm at third sealed the win.
- Four Bears posted two hits.
- Pinnix was 2-for-2 with a walk, run, and RBI.
- Faith Carrigan (14-4) struck out two in the win.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- Lenoir-Rhyne leads the all-time series 54-8.
- Since 2014 Lenoir-Rhyne has lost just three games to the Lions.
