HICKORY, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne baseball team took down Ferrum 12-1 in a seven inning, non-conference game on Tuesday afternoon.
The Bears jumped out to a 10-0 lead after three and cruised to the finish.
Mackenzie Wainwright was 3-for-4 with two runs scored while
Conor Linkfield was 3-for-4 with an RBI and two runs scored.

STORY OF GAME:
- Mackenzie Wainwright opened the game with at triple and scored on a throwing error by the catcher.
- With the bases loaded, Drew Beard hit a 2 RBI single. Andrew Stillinger followed that up with an RBI groundout to second.
- The Bears scored three more in the second thanks to a 2 RBI triple from Lleyton Lackey and a sac fly from Seth Christmas.
- Lenoir-Rhyne scored three more in the third and two in the sixth to give the game it's final score.
- Hugo Tafoya (4-2) struck out five and allowed just one run in the win.
- Seven Bears recorded a hit, led by Wainwright and Conor Linkfield's three.
BEYOND THE BOX SCORE:
- This is Ferrum's first year transitioning to Division II after coming from Division III.
- They compete in Conference Carolinas.
- Wainwright leads the team with 67 hits, 53 runs, and 14 home runs.
- Lenoir-Rhyne's 33 wins are tied for the sixth most in program history for a single season.
