ANCHORAGE, AK - The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball opened their season with on Thursday with a 3-1 (14-25, 29-27, 26-24, 25-18) win over Texas Woman's University. This marks the third straight season the Bears have won their opening game.
Emmaleigh Allen led the team with 13 kills, while newcomer
Avery Meide was tops with a game-high 26 digs.

STORY OF THE MATCH:
- The opening set was close before Texas Woman's went on a 10-0 run to pull away and win 25-14.
- The Pioneers went up 9-5 in set two before a 6-1 run from the Bears put LR back ahead.
- Neither team led by more than two points the rest of the set, with TWU saving four set points before an attack error gave LR a 29-27 win.
- The teams were just as evenly matched in the third set, with TWU saving yet another set point before an Averie Dale kill and Brooke Aeschliman ace sealed the set victory.
- Leading 14-13, LR went on a 7-3 run in the final set.
- Dale took advantage of a free ball over the net to win the game for the Bears.

- This was the first meeting all-time between these two teams.
- Averie Meide's 26 digs are the most for a Bear not named Hadley Prince since Lyndsie Warren in 2023.
