Biography

Redshirt Junior (2020)- Started six games on the mound for the Bears including a win over #3 Catawba on 3/6/2020... John finished the year with a 3-2 record with a 3.18 ERA....Added 32 strikeouts in 28 1/3 innings pitched. 

Junior (2019)- Redshirt due to injury

Sophomore (2018): Appeared and started 13 games for the Bears…John posted an ERA of 3.89 in 69.1 innings pitched…won eight games…had two complete games and one shutout…struck out 73 batters…only allowed opponents to hit .245 against him on the season…posted a season high in innings pitched with 7.1 against Wingate…posted a season high in strikeouts against Mars Hill with 10…earned the title of First Team All-SAC.

Freshman (2017): Appeared in nine games for the Bears and started eight of those games…John posted an ERA of 5.23 in 31.0 innings pitched…won two games…struck out 36 batters…only allowed opponents to hit .225 on the season.

High School: Attended Burns High School. Lettered in both basketball and baseball. Earned All-Conference honors for baseball. Was named Pitcher of the Year.

Personal: John is from Lawndale, North Carolina. Born July 25, 1998, to Patty and Robert Grigg.
