Diego Thielen will begin his first season at Lenoir Rhyne.
Prior to LRU, Diego Thielen served as a graduate assistant at Ohio Valley University. During his time at OVU, he helped the Fighting Scots to the NCAA D2 "Sweet Sixteen" in the National Tournament and a final overall national ranking of #18 during the 2019 season. In Spring 2021, he helped the team to win both the regular season and conference tournament championships and the highest final national ranking in school history at #3. He was also a member of the Midwest Region staff of the year by United Soccer Coaches.
Thielen played for four seasons for the Men's Soccer program and graduated in 2019 from Ohio Valley with a Bachelor’s Degree in Sport Management and Business Administration.
As a player Thielen was named to the G-MAC All-Freshman team, and All ECAC Second Team. Thielen saw great success as a member of the 2017 Great Midwest Athletic Conference Championship team, and the 2018 Midwest Region Championship team for the Fighting Scots.
Before attending OVU, Thielen is a native from Barquisimeto, Venezuela. Graduated from Colegio Andres Eloy Blanco and suited up for Club Deportivo Lara for five seasons.
