North Georgia Defeats Lenoir-Rhyne By A 2-1 Score In Men's Soccer

Dahlonega, Ga. - The North Georgia Men's Soccer Team (2-0-1) handed Lenoir-Rhyne University (1-1) its first loss of the 2010 season with a 2-1 win Wednesday evening at the North Georgia College & State University Soccer Complex.

The Saints scored twice in the first half within a span of two minutes and were able to hold on for the win.

North Georgia's Chris Griffith (Marietta, Ga.) opened the scoring at the 30:03 mark of the first half with a goal at the top of the box off a pass from Jesy Phelps (Charleston, S.C.).

The Saints made it 2-0 just 1:53 later when Juan Hurtado (Cali, COLUMBIA) shot one past L-R senior goalkeeper Tom Heath (Solihull, ENGLAND).

Lenoir-Rhyne finally got on the board when senior forward Dave Bailey (Bath, ENGLAND) found the right side of the net after taking a pass from Chibuzo Nwosu (Macon, Ga.) in the 87th minute of action.? The goal was Bailey's second in as many games this season but North Georgia was able to prevail.

North Georgia's Rade Tanaskovic (Barzilovica, SERBIA) was credited with the win in goal after saving seven shots and allowing just one goal while Heath (one save) suffered the loss for L-R.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face King on Saturday beginning at 4 p.m.? North Georgia, meanwhile, remains at home to take on USC Aiken Saturday at 7:30 p.m.
