Jefferson City, Tenn. - The Carson-Newman College Men's Soccer Team (3-5, 2-2) picked up a 2-1 victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (3-5-1, 0-2) in South Atlantic Conference action Saturday evening at McCown Field.

The Eagles, who snapped a two-match losing streak, got second half goals from Tyson Adkinson (Franklin, Tenn.) and Daniel Zitt (Morristown, Tenn.) en route to the win.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior forward Sven Picton (Lenoir, N.C.) scored the only goal of the match for the Bears late in the contest but it wasn't enough.

Adkinson broke the scoreless tie just over one minute after halftime when his shot glanced off an L-R defender and into the net for the goal.

Zitt gave the Eagles a 2-0 advantage in the 79th minute as he tapped in a goal off a cross from Robert Hill (Middlesbrough, ENGLAND), who was credited with the assist.

Picton cut Carson-Newman's lead in half with his second goal of the year as he worked through several Eagle defenders for a score at the 84:42 mark of the match but the Bears couldn't get any closer.

Carson-Newman goalkeeper Michael Alley (Kingsport, Tenn.) picked up the win after allowing just one goal while stopping seven shots.

L-R sophomore Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) suffered the loss in goal despite tallying five saves.
