Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Ties Tusculum, 1-1, In Home Finale

Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Soccer Team (7-8-3, 3-4-2) tied Tusculum College (7-7-3, 6-1-2), 1-1, Sunday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match on Senior Day in the Bears' home finale at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.

L-R?got on the board?just 11:38 into the match when sophomore midfielder Mehmet Karakilinc (Lanester, FRANCE)?scored right in front of the goal after finishing off a shot which hit the post.? The goal was Karakilinc's first with the Bears.

The contest remained 1-0 until the 74th minute when Tusculum scored on an own goal after a shot deflected off a Lenoir-Rhyne defender and into the net.

The squads were then held scoreless for the remainder of the second half and two 10-minute periods of overtime.

In goal, Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) allowed just one goal to go along with 10 saves in 110 minutes of action.

Tusculum goalkeeper Andy Goellner (Denver, Colo.) gave up just one goal as well while stopping six shots.

The Bears also held a 19-18 advantage in shots taken in notching its second consecutive tie.

Both Lenoir-Rhyne and Tusculum will compete in next week's 2011 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament against each in the first round on Tuesday.

The Bears are seeded seventh while the Pioneers are the No. 2 seed.? The two squads will face off on Tuesday beginning at 7 p.m., in Greeneville, Tenn.
