Edinboro Women's Lacrosse Takes Care Of Lenoir-Rhyne, 17-8

Freshman Victoria Velton scored twice for Lenoir-Rhyne in a 17-8 loss to Edinboro (Pennsylvania) Friday afternoon at Moretz Stadium in Hickory, N.C.

Hickory, N.C. - The Edinboro (Pa.) University Women's Lacrosse Team (2-0) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne University (3-5), 17-8, Friday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

The Fighting Scots' Victoria Smith (Rochester, N.Y.) led the way with a match-high five goals while Rebecca Zajac (Binghamton, N.Y.) scored three times as Edinboro remained undefeated on the season.

L-R?sophomore Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) and freshman?Victoria Velton (Baltimore, Md.) each scored twice for the Bears despite the loss.

Trailing 11-3, the Bears scored three consecutive goals to cut the margin to 11-6 just before halftime but the Fighting Scots responded by scoring six straight times to take control en route to the win.

Michelle Zei (Barrington, Ill.) tallied 11 saves in goal?in picking up the win for Edinboro, who also held a 42-29 advantage in shots taken.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Amanda Cotto (Fort Myers, Fla.) tallied 17 saves while freshman Rachel Hall (Durham, N.C.) added a goal and an assist in the losing effort.

Lenoir-Rhyne University?does not play again until Monday, March 21, when it hosts Belmont Abbey College?at Moretz Stadium beginning at 6:00 p.m.
