Anderson, S.C. - The Anderson University Men's Soccer Team (3-1, 1-0) opened South Atlantic Conference play Saturday afternoon with a 4-1 win over Lenoir-Rhyne University (2-4, 0-1) at Trojan Field.
Anderson's Lasse Sohrweide (Flensburg, GERMANY) and Daniel Bowers (Charleston, S.C.) each scored twice to lead the Trojans to the win.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior forward Daniel Jones (Wrexham, WALES) scored the lone goal for the Bears in the losing effort.
Sohrweide opened the scoring for the Trojans, assisted by Bowers, in the 19th minute when he headed the ball into the net from 10 yards out on a cross.
Bowers increased the margin to 2-0 at the 24:15 mark of the first half when he connected from about five yards out.
Jones helped cut L-R's lead in half when he received a cross from freshman midfielder Stefano Basso (Londrina, BRAZIL) and finished with a shot past the right post.
Sohrweide gave Anderson a 3-1 lead late in the first half before Bowers rounded out the scoring in the 52nd minute of the contest for the lone goal in the second half.
Sorhweide was credited on Anderson's last goal while Lukas Hesse (Berlin, GERMANY) won in goal for the Trojans.
L-R sophomore Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) stopped six shots for Lenoir-Rhyne but suffered the loss.
