Lenoir-Rhyne Ties USC Aiken, 1-1, In Men's Soccer Saturday On The Road

Senior midfielder Jordan Holmes scored his team-leading second goal of the year in Lenoir-Rhyne's 1-1 tie with USC Aiken in a road contest Saturday night in Aiken, S.C.

Aiken, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Soccer Team (2-4-1) forced a 1-1 tie with USC Aiken (2-5-1), Saturday night at Pacer Pit.

L-R senior midfielder Jordan Holmes (Southport, ENGLAND) opened the scoring in the 14th minute on a free kick from about 20 yards out for his team-leading second goal of the season.

USC Aiken's Carson Villa (Savannah, Ga.) tied the match at one with just 29 seconds left in the first half with a goal off a corner kick from Chinedu Arinze (Stone Mountain, Ga.), who was credited with the assist.

Both teams were scoreless the rest of the way as the Bears held on for the tie despite the Pacers' 22-12 advantage in shots taken.

L-R sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) allowed just one goal in 110 minutes of action to go along with six saves including one in each overtime.

USC Aiken's second goalkeeper, Robert Bolender (Kennesaw, Ga.), entered the match at the start of the second half and finished with three saves with two coming in the second overtime.

Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Mountain State (W.Va.) on Wednesday at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex beginning at 6 p.m.? USC Aiken plays at Montevallo next Sunday at 3:30 p.m.
