Wilson, N.C. - The Barton College Men's Soccer Team (2-0) spotted Lenoir-Rhyne University (0-2) a one-goal lead but rallied to win by a 2-1 score Saturday evening to remain undefeated on the year.
L-R struck first when sophomore Chibuzo Nwosu (Macon, Georgia) scored just 3:30 into the match.? Sophomore midfielder?Mehmet?Karakilinc (Lanester, FRANCE) was credited with the assist.
However, Barton tied the match at one when Danilo Matos (Lauro de Freitas, Brazil) scored in the 30th minute.
The score remained one-all until the 75:59 mark of the second half when Dante De Luca (Rio de Janeiro, Brazil) notched his first goal of the season which proved to be the game-winner.
Barton's Erik Pajunk (Rio de Janeiro, BRAZIL) assisted on both scores while the Bulldogs goalkeeper, Brian Riesenberg (Fort Thomas, Ky.), picked up the win after allowing just one goal while notching seven saves.?
Matos was also credited with an assist on Barton's game-winning goal.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore goalkeeper Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) suffered the loss despite allowing just two goals and making two saves in the contest.
L-R also held a 14-12 advantage in shots taken in the losing effort.
Lenoir-Rhyne hosts Lees-McRae in its home opener on Wednesday at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex beginning at 7:30 p.m.? Barton hosts Methodist Wednesday at 7 p.m.
