Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University Men's Soccer Team (0-3) suffered a 1-0 setback to Lees-McRae College (2-1) in its 2011 home opener Wednesday evening at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.
The Bobcats' John Williams (Rutherfordton, N.C.) scored the lone goal of the contest in the 10th minute when he won a loose ball and connected on a shot to the far post from about 17 yards out.
Lees-McRae held on for the win despite a flurry of offensive activity by Lenoir-Rhyne at the end of the match but the Bobcats were able to keep the Bears from scoring.
Lees-McRae goalkeeper Thomas Rusling (Sheffield, ENGLAND) picked up the shutout win after stopping five shots.
