Lenoir-Rhyne Suffers Setback To Anderson, 2-0, In Men's Soccer

Lenoir-Rhyne junior goalkeeper Stefan Dill finished with three saves in a 2-0 shutout defeat to Anderson in the regular season finale Saturday afternoon at Trojan Field in Anderson, S.C.

Anderson, S.C. - The Anderson Men's Soccer Team (4-10-3, 4-4-1) defeated Lenoir-Rhyne (6-6-4, 3-4-2), 2-0, Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match and the regular season finale at Trojan Stadium.

The Trojans, who saw their two-match losing streak snapped, received both goals from Lars Zimmerman (Malente, GERMANY).

Zimmerman scored in both halves for the Trojans and now has a team-leading seven goals on the year.

Zimmerman opened the scoring just 4:46 into the match with a goal from the right side of the box.? Tapiwa Munetsi (Anderson, S.C.) was credited with the assist.

Zimmerman's second goal came in the 68th minute in the second half with a header off a corner kick from Zak Moss (Fairfield, Ohio).

Anderson's goalkeeper, all-conference honoree Lukas Hesse (Berlin, GERMANY), earned the shutout win.? Hesse stopped five Lenoir-Rhyne shots on the day.

Junior Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA) suffered the loss in goal despite making three saves for the Bears, who did hold a 11-6 advantage in shots taken.

Both teams have qualified for the 2012 Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Men's Soccer Tournament, which begins on Tuesday.? The pairings will be announced by the league office this weekend.
