Jefferson City, Tenn. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's Soccer Team (6-7-4) saw its 2012 season come to an end with a 4-0 loss to Carson-Newman (8-5-3) in the quarterfinal round of the Food Lion South Atlantic Conference Tournament on Wednesday afternoon.
Carson-Newman, the second seed, will now take on third-seeded Lincoln Memorial on Friday in the semifinal round of the league tournament at 7:00 p.m.,?at Manchester Meadows in Rock Hill, S.C.
Lenoir-Rhyne, which lost its second consecutive match, was the seventh seed in this year's conference tournament.
Carson-Newman took control early with three first-half goals including a pair by Sindre Welo (Trondheim, NORWAY).? Welo now has a team-leading eight goals on the year.

Carson-Newman's Evan Kelly (Galway, IRELAND) scored the fourth and final goal of the contest with just over four minutes into the second half.? Kelly scored on a header off a corner kick from Welo.
Carson-Newman also held a 17-13 advantage in shots taken?while Rumwald Le Gueval (Vannes, FRANCE) picked up the victory in goal after finishing with seven saves on the day.
Lenoir-Rhyne's goalkeeper, junior Stefan Dill (Southampton, BERMUDA), suffered the loss despite tallying three saves on the afternoon.? Dill finished the year with a league-high 96 saves.
