Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Wins Easily Over Catawba, 19-3, For Its First Victory Of The Year

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Lauren Donovan scored four goals and added a pair of assists in a 19-3 win over Catawba Saturday afternoon at home in the Bears' first victory of the 2012 season.

Hickory, N.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (1-1) picked up its first win of the 2012 season and its first victory under Head Coach Sue Reuschle with a 19-3 triumph over Catawba (0-1) Saturday afternoon at Moretz Stadium.

L-R junior Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) led all scorers with five goals while freshman Lauren Donovan (Hollywood, Md.) added four goals and two assists to spearhead the Bears? win.

Catawba's goals were scored by Samantha Santoli (Nesconset, N.Y.), Ana Cooke (Fairfax, Va.) and Chelsey Ferraro (Tampa, Fla.).

L-R raced to an 11-2 halftime lead and never looked back as the Indians fell in their first-ever women's lacrosse match.

Lenoir-Rhyne freshman Mary Minick (Marietta, Ga.) added two goals and three assists as the Bears held a 40-12 advantage in shots taken and a 50-30 edge in ground balls.

Sophomors Brittany Brew (Wilmington, N.C.), Rachel Hall (Durham, N.C.) and Kaelyn Bildsten (Westerville, Ohio) all scored two goals each as well for the Bears.

In addition, L-R saved 13 shots on the afternoon while Catawba stopped seven shots on the day.

Lenoir-Rhyne plays at Limestone on Tuesday beginning at?4:00 p.m.,?while Catawba hosts Rollins on Sunday at Noon.? L-R's next home match will take place on Saturday, February 25, against Pfeiffer beginning at Noon.
