Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Puts It On Newberry, 21-1

Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore Lacy Peterson scored a match-high three goals and was one of 15 Bears to score a goal in a 21-1 victory over Newberry Monday afternoon in Newberry, S.C.

Newberry, S.C. - The Lenoir-Rhyne University?Women's Lacrosse Team (10-3) scored early and often en route to an easy 21-1 win over Newberry College?(2-6) Monday afternoon at Setzler Field.

Fifteen different players scored for the Bears, who were led by sophomore Lacy Peterson's (Hickory, N.C.) match-high three goals and one assist in L-R's dominating victory.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior Sarah Minick (Marietta, Ga.) added two goals and four assists as the Bears rolled to a 13-0 halftime advantage.? Minick currently leads the team in goals scored (37) and total points (53).

Newberry, in its first year of intercollegiate women's lacrosse?competition, received its lone goal from freshman Nikki Colwell (Greer, S.C.).

L-R, winners of two straight matches, held large advantages in both shots taken (43-8) and ground balls (22-12) while freshman Allison Senft (Marietta, Ga.) won in goal after stopping three shots.

Newberry's goalkeeper, Alex Hatch (Woodstock, Ga.), suffered the loss despite totaling 11 saves on the afternoon.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns to action on Wednesday when it hosts Lees-McRae at Moretz Stadium beginning at 5:30 p.m.? Newberry plays Savannah College of Art & Design on Saturday, April 7, at 1:00 p.m. in Hardeeville, S.C.
