Hickory, N.C. - The Limestone College Men's Soccer Team (1-1) pulled out a 2-1 double overtime victory over Lenoir-Rhyne University (1-1) Saturday evening at the Moretz Sports - Athletic Complex.
The Saints' Jack Bailey (London, ENGLAND) scored both goals of the match for Limestone including the game-winner with just 3:41 remaining in the second overtime.
Bailey opened the scoring in the 10th minute of play when he connected just outside the box for the 1-0 advantage.
Lenoir-Rhyne tied the score at one when freshman forward Tobias Tobrant (Boras, SWEDEN) finished off a saved free kick right in front of the net.?
L-R senior defender Chris Johnson (Liverpool, ENGLAND) was credited with the assist.? The goal was Tobrant's second in as many games for the Bears.
The score remained one-all until Bailey ended the contest with a shot into the top right corner of the net past a diving Bear keeper in the second overtime.
Limestone's Tom Godfrey (Ninfield, ENGLAND) was credited with the win in goal after giving up just one goal while tallying seven saves.? L-R senior goalkeeper Colin Corpe (Ocala, Fla.) took the loss despite stopping eight shots on the evening.
Lenoir-Rhyne remains at home to face USC Aiken in a key regional contest Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.? Limestone, meanwhile, travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to face Mars Hill Wednesday at 5:00 p.m.
