FieldTurf Construction Continues This Summer At Lenoir-Rhyne's Moretz Stadium

Hickory, N.C. – Helen and Leonard Moretz Stadium, home of Lenoir-Rhyne University’s Football and Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse Teams, continues its makeover this summer with the installation of artificial turf.  Check back in periodically as we update photos of the turf's progress.

FieldTurf, the new surface, is being installed by the Tarkett Sports Company, based out of Calhoun, Ga.

The carpet should be ready sometime in August of 2015.

The company created its first surface in 1988 and was the first to host a pair of Super Bowls, the World Series, the World Baseball Classic, a Major League Soccer Cup final and several college football games from around the nation.

The company also installed its first full-size soccer field in 1994.

All told, FieldTurf has been installed globally with more than 7,000 fields worldwide.  The company has over 11,000 employees as well at 30 production sites and sells 1.3 million square feet of flooring on a daily basis according to its website.

Such clients include hospitals, housing, hotels, offices, sports fields and stores.

The Lenoir-Rhyne Football Team’s first home game for 2015 is scheduled for Saturday, October 3, against Carson-Newman beginning at 2:00 p.m.  The Bears are scheduled to play five home games this fall.
