Brevard, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (7-13, 5-8) swept Brevard (4-17, 3-11), 3-0, in a South Atlantic Conference contest Tuesday night at Boshamer Gymnasium.

The Bears won by scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-23 and avenged an earlier home setback to the Tornados.

Lenoir-Rhyne was led by freshman outside hitter Katrina Samuels (Blythewood, S.C.) with eight kills while sophomore setter Jessica Funk (East Bend, N.C.) added a double-double – 23 assists and 10 digs – in the victory.

Junior outside hitter Brooke Redmond (Statesville, N.C.) and senior right side hitter Brandi Thomas (Wilmington, N.C.) finished with six kills each and junior defensive specialist Ashley Markland (Conover, N.C.) totaled 11 digs for the Bears, who limited the Tornados to a .138 hitting percentage.

For Brevard, Savannah Cox (Kannapolis, N.C.) led the way with a match-high 13 kills and Erin Barr (Hamptonville, N.C.) dished out 36 assists to go along with nine digs.  The Tornados, however, lost their third consecutive contest.

Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to face Mars Hill in a South Atlantic Conference match on Friday evening at 7:00 p.m.  Brevard hosts Tusculum in a league contest on Friday at 7:00 p.m., as well.
