Mars Hill, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Swimming Teams completed a sweep over Mars Hill Friday in a dual meet at Harrell Poll.
The men's squad by the Bears won in thrilling fashion, 132-130 over the Lions after the competition came down to the final event: the 200-yard freestyle relay.
Lenoir-Rhyne's relay – consisting of freshman Seth Hurst (Clover, S.C.), senior Michael Reavis (Bowie, Md.), sophomore Jacob Sink (Advance, N.C.) and junior Juwan Underwood (Atlanta, Ga.) – won by .05 seconds (1:29.63-1.29.68) over Mars Hill to win the event.
Junior Noah McRea (Hickory, N.C.) and freshman Jacob Queen (Hickory, N.C.) led the way for the Bears on the men's side. McRea won the 200-yard individual medley (1:57.49) and 200-yard backstroke (1:58.50) while Queen placed first in the 200-yard breaststroke (2:12.64) and 100-yard backstroke (55.95).
In women's action, the Bears won over the Lions by score of 144-116 and were led by sophomore Alyx Koert (Naples, Fla.) with victories in three events: the 500-yard (5:33.46) and 1,000-yard freestyle (11:17.62) events and the 200-yard backstroke (2:17.42).
The Lenoir-Rhyne Men's and Women's Swimming Teams will next compete in the Wingate Quad Meet with Catawba and Limestone on Friday, November 4, and Saturday, November 5, in Charlotte, N.C., at the Mecklenburg County Aquatics Center.
