Newberry, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (7-16, 5-11) suffered its third consecutive loss with a 3-0 defeat to the hands of Newberry (16-10, 13-5) Saturday afternoon in a South Atlantic Conference match at Eleazer Arena.

The Wolves, winners of seven straight matches, defeated the Bears by scores of 25-19, 25-23 and 25-18 and completed the season sweep of the Bears.

Newberry was led by Logan Hayward (Sylvania, Ohio) with a match-high 14 kills to go along with 20 digs while Maggie Marsh (Charleston, S.C.) added 33 assists as the Wolves remained in sole possession of fourth place in the league standings.

Lenoir-Rhyne junior middle blocker Emily Steele (Greenville, N.C.) finished with seven kills and junior setter Kathryn Sizemore (Arden, N.C.) totaled 20 assists in the losing effort.

Lenoir-Rhyne senior defensive specialist Jillian Born (Wilmington, N.C.) chipped in with 16 digs but the Bears hit just .080 for the match while Newberry had seven service aces for the contest.

Lenoir-Rhyne remains on the road to take on Catawba in a South Atlantic Conference match on Tuesday night in Salisbury, N.C., at 7:00 p.m.  Newberry travels to Mars Hill, N.C., to face Mars Hill in conference contest Friday night at 7:00 p.m.
