Salisbury, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Volleyball Team (7-17, 5-12) suffered a 3-2 setback to Catawba (13-10, 11-7) Tuesday evening at Goodman Gymnasium.
The Indians defeated the Bears by scores of 18-25, 25-14, 23-25, 25-22 and 15-8 to sweep the season series from Lenoir-Rhyne.
Catawba has won four straight matches while the Bears suffered their fourth consecutive setback.
Catawba rallied from a 2-1 deficit to take sets four and five for the victory.
Catawba was led by three players with 13 kills each – Bri Howard (Graham, N.C.), Alex Hopper (Madison, N.C.) and McKenzie Garrison (Newton, N.C.) – while Rachel Stanford (Mechanicsville, Va.) totaled 53 assists and 13 digs in the victory.
Lenoir-Rhyne senior right side hitter Brandi Thomas (Wilmington, N.C.) and junior outside hitter Brooke Redmond (Statesville, N.C.) both finished with 17 kills and junior defensive specialist Ashley Markland (Conover, N.C.) added 21 digs in the loss.
Lenoir-Rhyne returns to the court on Friday to face Coker in a South Atlantic Conference match at Shuford Memorial Gymnasium at 7:00 p.m. Catawba hosts Lincoln Memorial Friday evening beginning at 7:00 p.m.
