Wingate, N.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (1-1, 0-1) suffered its first loss of the year, 58-42, to Wingate (3-1, 2-0) Tuesday afternoon in its South Atlantic Conference opener at Cuddy Arena.
Wingate's Marta Miscenko (Riga, LATVIA) and Caroline Averette (Midlothian, Va.) each scored a game-high 15 points as the Bulldogs won their second straight game. Miscenko added 10 rebounds for the double-double.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore forward
Madi Suddreth (Taylorsville, N.C.) scored 10 points but was the lone Bears player to score in double figures. The Bears were also limited to just 32 percent shooting (20-of-62) for the contest.
Wingate held a 28-25 edge at halftime but took control in the third period after outscoring Lenoir-Rhyne by a 17-4 margin in the stanza.

Chelsey Romero (Hampton, Va.) added eight points each but the Bears fell behind a 10-0 score to start the game and never led in the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne next faces UPR Bayamon on Friday at 11:00 a.m., local time in the Puerto Rico Classic in San Juan, Puerto Rico. Wingate takes on UNC Pembroke on the road on Sunday, November 27, at 1:30 p.m.
