San Juan, Puerto Rico – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Basketball Team (2-1) defeated UPR Bayamon (2-5), 60-53, Friday afternoon on the first day of the Puerto Rico Classic at the Roberto Clemente Coliseum.
Lenoir-Rhyne sophomore guard
Kendall Toineeta (Cherokee, N.C.) led the way with 14 points and nine rebounds while senior forward
Brooke Robinson (Vale, N.C.) added 13 points in the victory.
For P.R.-Bayamon, Daneichka Canales (San Juan, Puerto Rico) finished with 14 points and Karelis Zayas (Bayamon, Puerto Rico) totaled 13 points in the setback for the Vaqueras.
Sophomore forward
Madi Suddreth (Taylorsville, N.C.) and senior center
Chelsey Romero (Hampton, Va.) added 10 points for the Bears, who held a 45-33 advantage in rebounding. Lenoir-Rhyne also led at halftime by a 30-25 margin.
On the final day of the classic tournament on Saturday, Lenoir-Rhyne faces Lubbock Christian at 8:30 a.m., Eastern Standard Time.
