Harrogate, Tenn. – The Lincoln Memorial Women's Basketball Team (7-0, 2-0) remained unbeaten on the year with a 73-51 win over Lenoir-Rhyne (2-3, 0-2) Wednesday evening in a South Atlantic Conference game at Tex Turner Arena.
The Lady Railsplitters, ranked No. 20 in NCAA Division II, were led by Shea Coker (Knoxville, Tenn.) with 13 points and was one of four players to score in double figures for Lincoln Memorial.
Lenoir-Rhyne, which suffered its second straight setback, was led off the bench by senior forwards
Morgan Cooper (Virginia Beach, Va.) and
Alecia Bell (Newport News, Va.) with 10 points each.
However, the Bears shot just 33 percent (13-of-40) for the game and were forced into 23 turnovers. Lenoir-Rhyne was also hurt by 17 missed free throws.
Megan Pittman (Liberty, Ky.) added 12 points for Lincoln Memorial, who jumped out to a 22-10 lead at the end of the first period and never looked back.
The Lady Railsplitters also held a 42-32 advantage on the boards in the win as well.
In the next round of South Atlantic Conference games on Saturday afternoon at 2:00 p.m., Lenoir-Rhyne returns home to Shuford Memorial Gymnasium to face Brevard while Lincoln Memorial hosts Coker.
