Gaffney, S.C. – The Lenoir-Rhyne Women's Lacrosse Team (0-2) suffered a 16-3 setback to Limestone (2-0) Saturday afternoon at Saints Field. Limestone is ranked No. 11 in NCAA Division II.
Kendra Sheppard (Ontario, Canada) scored a game-high three goals and Shannon Sisk (Brooklin, Ontario) added two goals and six assists for the Saints, who put the contest away early by taking a 12-1 advantage into intermission.
Limestone scored the first five goals of the match just 10 minutes into the contest before Lenoir-Rhyne got on the scoreboard.
Lenoir-Rhyne received goals from sophomore midfielder Aubriana Benedetto (Rochester, N.Y.), junior attacker Torrey Schwitkis (San Diego, Calif.) and sophomore Christine Faircloth (Winter Park, Fla.) in the losing effort.
Seven players scored at least twice for the Saints – including Carleigh Davis (Eldersburg, Md.) with two goals and three assists – as Limestone held the advantage in both shots taken (26-11) and ground balls (18-15).
Limestone's Sydney Teeter (Auburn, N.Y.) earned the victory in goal with five saves while sophomore Ines Flueck (Coppell, Texas) suffered the loss and made four saves in the contest.
Lenoir-Rhyne does not play again until Tuesday, February 23, when the Bears host Pfeiffer at 4:00 p.m. Limestone plays Erskine in a Conference Carolinas game on Wednesday beginning at 4:00 p.m., in Due West, S.C.
